As previously mentioned on our site, the Sugarloaf trailhead is a short couple of blocks from our front door. You’ll find it to be one of the quietest hiking areas among the many Red Rock Country choices. This is because of its residentially-located starting point, compared to those trails more easily accessible to the many tourists (those trailheads located adjacent to Hwy. 89A or 179).
Within a short 25 minutes, you’ll be at the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain where you’ll have a commanding view of Sedona and its unique Red Rock formations. It’s a great spot for private reflection.
Morning time is the best for me. I’m up and back within the hour, ready to relax on our patio -with coffee and a view of Sugarloaf in the distance. Remember, it’s a one-water-bottle trek, as the final ascent toward the top is quite invigorating.
I hope you’ll try this hike while you’re visiting!
Best wishes,
